In these times, in which the pandemic has affected many areas, including the equipment related to the reception of TV signals, Golden Media has decided to launch a new combo receiver from the Wizard HD VOTE series, namely Wizard HD VOTE 4.
Golden Media VOTE 4 Combo is an excellent receiver for receiving FULLHD channels as well as SD channels. Having support for H265 decoding (HEVC) and being a combo allows you to receive a wide range of TV programs from different sources.
Golden Media VOTE 4 Combo is a universal receiver that works in three standards, with two tuners. A DVB-S / S2 tuner and a DVB-C / T / T2 tuner. Selectable configuration options from the receiver menu include DVB-S / S2 + DVB-T / T2 or DVB-S / S2 + DVB-C. One of the special features of this receiver is its compatibility with the DVB-T2 standard. The latest generation of digital terrestrial television that offers better quality and power than the signal offered in DVB-T, DVB-T2 is also used in Romania. Thanks to the two tuners, it is now possible to record one program while watching another. Example: we watch a cable program and at the same time we record one from the satellite.
VOTE 4 comes equipped with a new processor that supports H.265 HEVC, this together with the proprietary operating system offers a very good experience. The interface has been modified from previous versions of the Wizard HD VOTE range, this model offers an interface very similar to that of the Voyager I and II receiver, one of the most successful receivers from Golden Media. This interface is much more intuitive and easy to use than the previous one.
The receiver comes in a metal case. On the front panel we find, from left to right, the power button, followed by a USB 2.0 port, then we have the MENU buttons, OK (selection confirmation), V- (slower volume), V + (louder volume), CH - (program down) and CH + (program up). Above these buttons we have the 7-segment LED display. And behind the screen and buttons we have the door that hides the smart card reader and the slot for conditioned access modules (CAMs).
On the back panel we find (also from left to right) a DVB-C / T / T2 tuner, a DVB-S / S2 tuner, a USB port, a coaxial S / PDIF output, an ethernet output for internet connection, an HDMI connector and a SCART connector for video and audio output, a 12V power plug. Above the S / PDIF and ethernet connector we have an RS 232 socket for emergency software uploads and list updates. Of course, as with USB connectors, software updates can be made.
The USB interface allows playback of the following file formats: MP3, OGG, FLAC, JPEG, MPEG, MKV, AVI, XVID, JPEG, BMP, which makes the device a multimedia player. The card reader and the CI slot allow the reception of numerous pay-TV channels in Full HD resolution.
This receiver also offers some internet functions as well internet radio, Google Maps and other online services but being a dedicated equipment for the reception of TV channels via satellite, cable or terrestrial, the internet functions are at a very low level.
In conclusion, for Golden Media Wizard HD VOTE 4 the most important advantages are the two tuners, PVR functions, timeshift and multiroom functions, a new, efficient processor and low power consumption (the value in deep standby mode is less than 0, 2W).
