We are in 2022, a year with new hopes and expectations. 2022 follows the years 2021 and 2020, difficult years that changed the face of this planet. Although the past years have been difficult for many companies, WISI Communications GmbH & Co. KG continued both the development of new equipment (example: WA 45, OLT MicroPlug or GT 2000), but also the improvement of existing equipment by adding new important functions (example: SRT).
WISI keeps the development trend, by launching a new VoD function via QAM for Tangram equipment, through the GT 23W modules, already existing on the market. For those who have not yet learned about WISI Tangram, this is a high-density CATV platform, which lends to digital and/or analog TV program transmission networks, to those who want to implement end-to-end IPTV solutions, for connected TV (Connected TV) and OTT (Over The Top - Web TV). The platform offers multiple configuration possibilities and advanced processing of the DVB stream in a small case (1 RU).
Although the WISI Tangram platform has reached maturity, WISI continues to develop it, adding the newest functions and technologies. Therefore, as mentioned above, in this new year WISI adds the "IP to QAM optimized for VoD clusters" function for Tangram, through the GT 23W module.
The suppliers of EdgeQAM equipment for classic linear transmissions have left or are going to leave the classic direction of EdgeQAM linear equipment, focusing also on other technologies, such as R-PHY (Remote-PHY). Cable operators who are obliged to continue to offer existing linear television services, are interested in offering interactive services, such as VoD via QAM. But the introduction of VoD services via QAM requires the replacement of IP to QAM equipment from older generations.
The TANGRAM WISI platform, through the GT 23W Edge to QAM module, adds to the current functionalities the processing of non-linear television services, on demand (VoD), using a set of advanced features. In the new working mode, the GT23W module supports up to 256 IP inputs and a quick installation with preconfigured channel mapping. In addition, the high-density video engine for Gateway and Edge applications offers the same mature multiplexing and encryption features preferred by industry leaders.
All of the above are a complement to other important features of the TANGRAM platform, of which we mention: support for all major CAS systems, the powerful Simulcrypt interface with more than 10 simultaneous sessions, high level of reliability through the concept of complete redundancy, the fans and hot swappable sources, maximum flexibility and simplicity through modular architecture and ease of operation through the web interface. Let's not forget the fact that Tangram is a piece of equipment present in numerous Tier 1 and Tier 2 implementations worldwide.
